Mental Breakdown

When a character falls to a negative bliss score equal to their Wisdom score, they suffer from a mental breakdown. The character suffers a –6 penalty to Strength and Dexterity, moves at half speed, and cannot charge or run. In addition, the GM rolls on the chart below and they gain one of the following disadvantages:

  1. Depression
  2. Dissociative Amnesia
  3. Generalized anxiety disorder
  4. Mania
  5. Narcolepsy
  6. Phobia
  7. Post traumatic stress disorder
  8. Substance Abuse Disorder
  9. Thousand-yard stare
  10. Wandering and Homeless

(Please note that there are many more mental disorders than a player could suffer from, but I do not wish to have people roleplay these. Also, mental disorders should never be Fishmalked, that is, we roleplay these with a serious attitude and I want players to push for their characters to seek medical attention to remove these, and not want to keep them to make the character a goofy person.)

A mental breakdown is removed when the character’s Bliss is raised to 0 or higher. They still suffer, however, from the disadvantage that the negative score inflicted on them. This disadvantage does not count against the usual disadvantage maximums.
